About

I'm Jun Seo, a senior at Hamilton College majoring in computer science with a minor in physics. I like the point where software meets physical things: robots, CAD models, 3D prints, and low-level code that runs on real (or very old) hardware.

At Hamilton I helped start the robotics club, where I co-lead the mechanics team for VEX U and run Fusion 360 workshops. I'm also a TA for Computer Organization, where we write Game Boy assembly. I've done undergraduate research with software-defined radios and a Raspberry Pi, and spent a semester abroad at Yonsei University in Seoul.

Away from the keyboard I climb, go to the gym, and play video games. Sometimes that means setting up a Minecraft server for whatever modpack my friends and I are playing.

Why "First Layer"?

In 3D printing, the first layer decides whether the whole print succeeds. If it doesn't stick, nothing built on top of it will. This site is my first layer: the notes and fundamentals that make the next project go better.
